Lounge Act Thursday: Tunes, Flicks & celebrating Local First UT

Thursday night has a few things worth your while, from classic flicks to excellent fundraisers.---

The Salt Lake City Film Festival's monthly free flick at Brewvies just happens to be one of my faves, Tim Burton's Ed Wood. You just might not look at Johnny Depp the same after you've seen him in the title character's angora sweaters. It starts at 10 p.m., but you'll want to get there early to get a seat.

The State Room welcomes the MarchFourth Marching Band, a visual and aural extravaganza that must be seen to be believed. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Down Provo way, there's a great show at Velour featuring Matt Pond PA, Rocky Votolato and Parlor Hawk, starting at 8 p.m. And back in SLC, The Urban Lounge brings some booming sounds via MSTR Shredder, Flash & Flare and Muscle Hawk at 9 p.m.

And the biggest to-do of the night is likely the Local First Utah Celebrate the Bounty party at the Salt Lake Hardware Building, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. It's a perfect chance to sample some of the best local food and drink Utah has to offer, and to bid on great local products in the silent auction while you listen to local tunes courtesy of the Daniel Day Trio.
