Lounge Act Tuesday: Foo Fighters, Mariachis, Pink Dot Campaign

Some tunes to tempt you to skip school, work or camping at Pioneer Park are just the beginning of the Tuesday festivities.---
There aren't a lot of bands you can trust to put on a worthy arena-sized show, but Foo Fighters (pictured) are one of those bands. Not only does leader Dave Grohl and Co. regularly play ginormous rooms and stadiums; they also know how to make those spaces feel small. They also pick some awesome opening acts, and for Tuesday's show at the E Center, they have Cage the Elephant and Mariachi El Bronx on the bill. The Urban Lounge is hosting CANT, featuring Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear fame in addition to numerous production jobs with other hipster acts like Twin Shadow and Dirty Projectors. CANT is his own thing, and it starts at 9 p.m. with Blood Orange and Mirror Mirror opening the show.
Tuesday also marks the opening night of the new Jazz at Capitol Theatre series, with the JazzSLC shows you might know from past homes at the Sheraton or the Hilton now taking place at the grand historic theater on 200 South. The U of U's student radio station KUTE is hosting an Autumn Bash at Kilby Court, with 13 bands playing sets that begin at 11 a.m. It's free for U students, and $7 for the rest of us, and a fine chance to catch up on a slew of local talent.
The Pink Dot Utah Campaign is hosting a massive event at SpringMobile Ballpark to celebrate National Coming Out Day, creating a "human pink dot" to support our LGBT friends. The party starts at 5 p.m.
