Rally for Fair Districts Monday!

With a special session of the Legislature being called to approve redistricting maps, various groups are protesting outside the Capitol on Monday against political maps they say divide Utah communities in order to protect political incumbents.---

The final congressional “pizza” map picked by the Legislature’s Redistricting Committee divides Salt Lake County three ways and attaches two large rural areas to the districts dividing the county. Now, activists are calling out the committee for diluting the vote of Utah’s urban core to protect and promote partisan Republican politics.

If you don’t have an appetite for pizza plans that splice Utah voting boundaries between rural and urban districts, then you might want to show up and demand something different on the menu at Monday’s rally hosted by progressive advocacy group Alliance for a Better Utah.

Check it out, Monday, Oct. 3, 11 a.m., at the Utah State Capitol, 350 N. State, at the Capitol Rotunda.
