Lounge Act Wednesday: Erasure, Further, Geena Davis and more

The band that played to the largest crowd ever at the old Park West (now Canyons) amphitheater is back in town, and so are some dudes from the Grateful Dead. And that's just the beginning.---
Who was that popular band that packed more than 20,000 on a Park City hillside seemingly forever ago? None other than Erasure (pictured), the synth-pop duo led by the always-entertaining Andy Bell, with music provided by one-time Depeche Moder Vince Clarke. Wednesday night, Erasure headlines at Kingsbury Hall to what is still a remarkably fervent following in Utah.
Across the valley in West Valley City, Further hits the stage at the Maverik Center, featuring Phil Lesh and Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead, doing a whole lotta Dead tunes. If you're in a mood to spin in circles for hours, this is your place Wednesday. If you're down Provo way, you might want to drop by Velour for You Are Plural, a folk boy/girl duo with some Ra Ra Riot to them.
The Utah Film Center welcomes film star Geena Davis to town to talk about the experience of filming Thelma & Louise in Southern Utah, and to discuss her Hollywood career. Should be good stuff; Davis is one smart lady with quite a history.
Speaking of movies, you can join the City Weekly Street Team at Brewvies for a free screening of '90s-era pop-culture artifact Clueless. The flick starts at 8 p.m., so get there early for a good seat. Brewvies is also hosting Powderwhore: Breaking Trail, a new ski flick playing at 7 and 9 p.m.
