Labor Day weekend tends to be a fallow period for new releases -- and it's no different when it comes to the bargain theaters. ---

The sole new arrival at discount theaters this weekend is Zookeeper, a comedy casting Kevin James as the titular zoological caretaker who can hear animals talk in the voices of Nick Nolte, Adam Sandler, Cher and Sylvester Stallone. Oh, and also he falls in love. Our Eric D. Snider described it as something unlikely even to appeal to the young audience who seems to be its target, what with all the romantic comedy shenanigans going on; "I don’t know who it’s for," quoth Snider, "other than people who enjoy making fun of bad movies."
