If you are penny pinchin' because the economy is down, or you're just plain frugal but still desire to experience some culture and indulgence, look no further. Each week, Events for Cents will inform the masses about the fun, the free, the charming and the cheap.---

Literary Arts
10 of 10: Celebrating 10 Years of Community Writers
Over the years, the SLCC Community Writing Center has worked with many people as they've identified their unique process of writing. Whether you want to write poetry, fiction or nonfiction, come to this workshop to the explore question of, "Why write?" on July 28th and Aug. 4th.
SLCC Community Writing Center, 210 E. 400 South, 801-957-4992, Thursday, July 28, 6 p.m., Free.

Music
Twilight Concert Series: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
Here’s what our music critic, Dan Nailen, had to say about the headliner of this free show: “The last time we saw Alex Ebert, frontman for Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, in Salt Lake City, he was in town to perform in support of enviro saboteur Tim DeChristopher. Expect a bit more of a party vibe when he brings his full band to town for the Twilight Concert Series—sometimes up to 13 people take the stage. The collective’s brand of psychedelic folk-rock is bound to make some new fans of the unfamiliar sure to glut Pioneer Park for the show. Openers The Entrance Band take a free-jazz approach to punk, blues and rock, and could prove as challenging to some listeners as Ebert and Co. will prove inviting.”
Pioneer Park, 300 S. 300 West, Thursday, July 28, 7 p.m., Free.

Visual Art
Park City Gallery Stroll

The free monthly art shindig on Park City’s Main Street, in addition to some additional, outlying galleries, doesn’t have the hype that the Salt Lake Stroll does, but it is just as entertaining. World-class galleries like Coda Gallery, Julie Nester Gallery and Gallery MAR open up their doors as perusers dig on the adorned walls between popping into Main Street’s many bars and restaurants. All in all, that makes for a pretty fine evening.
Various locations Park City, Friday, July 29, 6-9 p.m., ParkCityGalleryAssociation.com
