Spend your Independence Day weekend being frightened at the discount theaters--perhaps intentionally, perhaps not. ---

Coming to multiple locations is Priest, based on the graphic novel about a spiritual warrior against a vampire plague in a post-apocalyptic world. While it was generally a disappointment at the box office and with critics, our MaryAnn Johanson called it "magnificently lean." Find out for yourself this weekend.

The Cinemark Valley Fair offers a couple of additional options for your bargain viewing pleasure. The first was the surprise horror success Insidious, about a family whose new home may be haunted; our Eric D. Snider praised it for its "good old-fashioned nightmares." And speaking of nightmares, Cinemark Valley Fair also debuts Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family. You know what you're in for by now, folks. Tyler Perry, Madea picture. Whaddaya want, a road map?
