What’s new tonight:
Wipeout (ABC) Summer Premiere: Everybody’s favorite show about fat dummies getting knocked around with big foam hammers is back! Go, ‘Merica!
101 Ways to Leave a Game Show (ABC) Series Debut: Says here, “Contestants will match wits in a series of multiple- choice questions, with one contestant being eliminated every round. But unlike any other game show in the world, the eliminated contestant will then be ejected from the show in spectacular fashion, i.e., being flown away strapped to the wing of a biplane, pushed off the top of a moving semi, dragged underwater by a one-ton anchor or yanked off a dock by a speedboat.” OK, that’s four—what about the other 97? Do they get more brutal and/or fatal? That I’d watch.
Combat Hospital (ABC) Series Debut: Not a spin-off of Childrens Hospital but a drama about sexy Army doctors having sexy sex (and, presumably, saving lives) in Afghanistan—and almost as funny as Childrens Hospital. It used to be called The Hot Zone, but ABC felt it was undignified. You know, like debuting a network drama in June with zero promotion.
Also new tonight:
America’s Got Talent, The Voice (NBC); MasterChef (Fox); Tosh.0 (Comedy Central); 16 & Pregnant (MTV); The Deadliest Catch (Discovery); 19 Kids & Counting, The Little Couple (TLC); Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels (A&E); Pretty Little Liars, The Nine Lives of Chloe King (ABC Family); Memphis Beat, Hawthorne (TNT); White Collar, Covert Affairs (USA)
Preview: Combat Hospital is not an Adult Swim comedy. Honest.
