Ralliers are bringing the noise to the Salt Lake City federal courthouse today to protest unlawful foreclosures in the state.---
With Utah ranked as 4th in the nation for foreclosures, folks are rallying against one bank they allege has run rampant with illegal foreclosures. The groups of the Recontrust Class Action group are rallying against Bank of America’s foreclosure practices. Recontrust is the name of their foreclosing affiliate company and their questionable practices were covered in City Weekly’s article “Fighting Foreclosure” that documented the fight of a Moab resident who was facing foreclosure from Recontrust even while Bank of America said they were using stimulus funds to modify his home loan.
It’s a complaint common enough that now the Utah Attorney General’s office is arguing that national banks need to abide by state laws that require any foreclosing entity to be licensed by the state bar or a state title company and have a physical building in the state.
Ralliers will be fighting foreclosures, today, June 14, at 1:30 p.m. outside the Federal Courthouse at 350 S. Main.
