Today’s releases offer fresh duos, sophomore releases and shimmering pop songs just in time for summer.---

Givers release their debut In Light, which stays afloat from the bouncy opening track “Up Up Up” all the way to the end. It melds catchy hooks with male/female two-part harmonies for an easy listen that would pair nicely with a spiked lemonade and a barbecue.

Another debut, this one by Brooklyn duo Cults, is a full-length self-titled album that would please fans of Best Coast, Dum Dum Girls or Vivian Girls. The xylophone and reverb-soaked tracks is sunny good-times but mixes in a tinge of angsty darkness under the lining.

For a listen that’s more substantive and less glimmery, Fucked Up release a four-act rock opera, David Comes to Life. Check out the album Website for lyrics and a synopsis of the Toronto six-piece’s achievement.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. drops a electronic indie wall of sound on It’s a Corporate World today. They will be touring in support of the album and make a stop at Kilby Court this Friday, June 10.

Sondre Lerche unloads an entertaining batch of love songs in a nasally falsetto on his latest self-titled album. The Norwegian singer-songwriter will play The Urban Lounge on June 22.

Dawes’ road-tested 11 song Nothing is Wrong shows off an impressive maturity that’s blossomed since their debut two years ago. They even say so on “Coming Back to a Man,” while “Time Spent in Los Angeles” more aptly shows off their sonic evolution.

Lastly, Depeche Mode releases Remixes 2.
