Yard Art is Here

A few weeks ago, we prepared you for it. Now, here's how to see it. ---

In our Earth Day Green Guide issue, Brian Staker wrote about Salt Lake Art Center's "Lawn Gnomes Eat Your Hearts Out" competition, a large scale public-art project built around turning yards into works of art. Today, the entrants go live.

And if you want to take a gander with a bunch of fellow enthusiasts, there are a couple of different ways to do so next Saturday, May 21. A free family bus tour will leave Salt Lake Art Center (20 S. West Temple) at 2:15 p.m., reservation required to Felicia Baca (feliciab@slartcenter.org). If you're interested in a slightly more grown-up variation, the "party bus" tour begins at 4:45 p.m. from the Art Center for $25 per person, with beer, wine and cheeses (the latter from Tony Caputo's) served; 21 and up only, reservation also required.

Or, if you feel like taking a personal trek around the valley to see the entrants, just follow this handy map, which also includes artist statements.
