There's a bevy of activities in the ol' town tonight, from an unlikely soccer match to a familiar face on stage at Wiseguys. Check it out.---

Even if you don't care about sports, or simply don't care about soccer, chances are you've heard what a massive game we have going on in Sandy tonight, a match between Real Sandy, er, Real Salt Lake and a team from Monterrey, Mexico, for the CONCACAF Champions League title. If the home team manages a win or a low-scoring tie (0-0, 1-1), Real Salt Lake will move on to a prestigious tourney in Japan later this year. The game is sold out, but I'm sure tix are floating around online. It starts at 8 p.m.

Wednesday at the West Valley City Wiseguys, Hal Sparks headlines a show. You might know Sparks from his constant appearances on all those VH1 I Love the '80s-type shows, or for his years hosting Talk Soup way back when, or perhaps for his stint on Queer as Folk. Pretty funny cat. His show starts at 7:30 p.m.

At the Complex, British DJ duo Chase & Status headline a show, fresh off an appearance at Coachello in SoCal. Dead Prez headline a gig at The Urban Lounge Wednesday night, bringing some political hip-hop to town. The State Room features folkie duo honeyhoney Wednesday night.

The City Weekly Street Team is hosting a free screening of '80s classic The Goonies at Brewvies at 8 p.m.; get there early for a seat. And the Utah Museum of Fine Arts is also hosting free screenings of two films about the Spiral Jetty, in relation to its Smithson Effect show currently on display, beginning at 7 p.m.
