Earth Day Celebration @ Oasis Cafe

Oasis Café is celebrating Earth Day 2011 by hosting the first of a series of onsite farmers’ markets and with a focus on local sustainable and organic farms and ranches. --- Specials will include turkey burgers and chicken specials from Utah's Heritage Valley Organics and proceeds will benefit Wasatch Community Gardens.

Chad Midgley of Chad's Produce will be on hand from noon to 6 p.m. for the special Earth Day farmers' market on site at Oasis Cafe. He’ll return weekly to the Cafe throughout the summer on Saturdays. His Earth Day offerings will include garden fresh Swiss chard, rainbow carrots, candy striped beets, garden fresh turnips, leeks and parsnips. He will also be selling rainbow-colored farm eggs, locally-raised bare root onion plants, heirloom tomato plants, and will continue through the year with summer favorites at inexpensive farmers' market prices. "One of the neatest things I will have is my exclusive Lemon Spinach Salad Mix, with the burst of lemon sorrel. It is the only salad that needs no salad dressings," says Midgley.

"Our diners appreciate the extra care we take, to fill our menus with local organic vegetables, sustainably ranched meats and the freshest seafood," said Billy Sotelo, Oasis executive chef. "We are starting our weekly farmers market to extend this effort to their home kitchens."
