Lounge Act Monday: It's Arcade Fire day!

A few years back, a slew of Salt Lakers drove to Utah County to see Arcade Fire's first Utah concert. Monday night, it's deja vu all over again.---

That Thanksgiving Point concert on Arcade Fire's Neon Bible tour is what makes recommending the drive an easy call; the multi-faceted Canadian crew threw down an awesome live show, a gig that turned me from a casual fan of the band into a rabid one. Sadly, we don't get LCD Soundsystem opening this time around, but Local Natives are no slouches. And if anyone can make the sterile confines of the UCCU Center (formerly the McKay Events Center) on the Utah Valley University campus seem like a fine place for a show, I'm guessing Arcade Fire is just the band. Be forewarned: the show is slated for 7 p.m., and getting into the UCCU Center parking lot is a bit of a clusterf--k, so head to the venue early if you can.

If the drive and the price of the Arcade Fire show makes it a non-starter, there are other fine musical options in the Salt Lake valley Monday night. A Rocket to the Moon headlines a multi-band bill at The Complex, while Angry OrtsYoung Prisms headline a night of psychedelic wonders at The Urban Lounge. headline at Bar Deluxe.

The Salt Lake City Film Center is hosting a screening of Two Spirits at 7 p.m. at the Tower. It's a film exploring a tragic murder of a Navajo 16-year-old. And the U of U Union Building theater will have a free screening of Bullied, part of the LGBTQ Film Series, at 6 p.m.
