Rolling Stone Cover Contest: Fictionist Sails To Second Round

At the beginning of February, we let you guys know that Fictionist was one of 16 bands vying to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone.--- And thanks to votes from fans and a week-long stay in New York City playing for Rolling Stone staff members, Atlantic Records executives and corporate sponsors, Fictionist recently found out they advanced to the second round of Rolling Stone’s cover contest, “Do You Wanna Be A Rock & Roll Star?"
"New York was really really good," keyboardist Jacob Jones said. "We were able to meet the competition. They were really nice people. It was really nice to meet them and put faces to their music."
Jones said the band wasn't surprised to make it to the second round. "We thought we did really well spreading the word," he said. "We were really excited, and a little anxious, to see if we were going to make it."
Seven other bands cruised through to the final round, and after another round of voting, the eight bands will be cut to four, and then eventually two. Those two bands, will play at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in June to compete for the Aug. 19 cover.
Fictionist is really trying to get the word out to people, especially to new people who can vote in the second round. Jones feels the band reached out a lot for the first round, but now they are trying to expand that list of people, which he says is difficult. So, they still need your help. If you want to vote, and you know you do, go to the Rolling Stone or Fictionist’s website. Fans are only allowed to vote once during a round, and second-round voting ends April 11.
But wait. There's more. Not only will your vote help the band grace the first cover ever chosen by the public, but Fictionist just announced a contest that might make you $1,000 richer and win you two tickets to Bonnaroo to see the band play alongside The Black Keys, Allison Krauss, Arcade Fire and many others. If Fictionist makes it to Bonnaroo, the person who comes up with the most creative way to get the band votes wins the trip. For more information and to enter the contest, visit their website.
