The 23rd annual benefit for Community Nursing Services offers up a few of my favorite things.---

No, it’s not cream-colored ponies and crisp, apple streudels, but it’s close—in regards to delight for the eyes and the mouth. As the name suggests, Salt Lake City’s finest artists will be exhibiting their paintings for a silent auction; some of them will be painting live, on site. And some of the town’s finest restaurants will be ladling out samples of soups and dishing out desserts.

Art and Soup is open Wednesday and Thursday for lunch (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) and dinner (5-9 p.m.) and is located at the Sheraton City Center (150 W. 500 South). Admission is $12 for one art and soup session.

Of the over-20 artists, 2011 featured artist Carol Wade, Jeff Pugh, Larry Winborg, Aaron Bushnell and Erin Berrett will be exhibiting. There are nearly as many restaurants on hand as well, with Tin Angel Cafe, .Jason’s Deli, Caffe Molise and Blue Boar Inn, among others. It might be a cold start to spring, but, as Julie Andrews sang, I simply remember my favorite things (art and soup), and then I don’t feel so bad.
