Here’s your definitive list of where to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (seasoned like corned beef with some excellent Irish words to boot).---

Salt Lake City’s quintessential Irish pub is, of course, Piper Down. And their throw-down--as owner and maestro of the festivities Dave Morris (pictured) puts it--is the same sort of hubbub (excited fuss) for folks that relish in NYE in NYC or Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It’s a crazy good time. There are activities all day long for work-skippin’ hookies with good food and spirits to get coshured (pampered) up on and a raucous party with Heathen Highlanders and Swagger in the evening. Check out our “What’s on Your iPod?” feature with Morris for more details.

Johnny’s on Second is hosting the “Party like a Leprechaun” shindig, which should be a blast. But events abound around town with green beer, Irish car bombs and general malarkey. Check out our special Listings page for more details on the bar and pub scene. Or you might even find your own house party of shebeen (unlicensed drinking establishment).

Elsewhere, if you’re looking for live music, the most leprechaun-looking musician in Salt Lake Valley, Corey Mon, will play a holiday gig at Velour in Provo, although it’s an alcohol-free joint. Dan Nailen recently reviewed Mon's Turn Coats at three stars. And over in Park City the punks-turned-acoustic bluegrass band Old Man Markly play The Sidecar.

The police force beefs up its DUI enforcement tonight, so be safe. Yellow Cab has a $2 off coupon on City Weekly’s backstop; their number is 801-521-2100 (put it in your phone now). Also, checkout the various TRAX schedules to avoid driving. Have fun out there and hopefully tomorrow you're head won't feel like it's been blown to smithereens (tiny fragments).
