Salt Lake City's Wasatch Roller Derby kicks off the 2011 women's flat-track derby season this Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Salt Palace, with a charity bout to benefit the March of Dimes. ---

The press release from Wasatch Roller Derby:

"The ladies of Wasatch Roller Derby are ready to kick off the 2011 season with bang! Come help us make a difference in the New Year as our new home teams, the Black Diamond Divas and the Hot Wheelers, take us to the Derby Dimension!

"The evening will feature two 30-minute halves where the Black Diamond Divas will go head-to-head against the Hot Wheelers to raise money for the March of Dimes charity. WRD will donate 40 percent of the net proceeds.

"All tickets are general admission: $10 in advance, $13 at the door, children 5 and under are free. Tickets are available at Hoppers (890 Fort Union Blvd. Midvale), via our website WasatchRollerDerby.com or at the door the night of the event."

Doors 6 pm, bout 7 pm at the Salt Palace (100 S. West Temple). Trackside "suicide" seating is best (if you're at least 18), and there's beer at the Palace (if you're at least 21).
