American Idol’s season premiere last night was down 18 percent from 2010—but it still crushed Paula Abdul’s Live to Dance on CBS. And no one's buying the Lee DeWyze album. I just like news about Idol-related failures, that’s all.---

What’s new tonight:
Parks & Recreation (NBC) Season Premiere: Leslie Knope and Team Pawnee have been gone waaay too long, thanks to alleged comedy Outsourced and the anti-genius of NBC. Beginning tonight, however, maybe the net is onto something: Three hours of comedy that makes room for Parks & Recreation AND the aforementioned crap-com. Tonight, Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Ann (Rashida Jones) have to talk the new guys (Rob Lowe and Adam Scott) into giving the department more money (for what, the pit?), and Ron (Nick Offerman) and Andy (Chris Pratt) couch a youth basketball team (sure, why not?).

Perfect Couples (NBC) Series Debut: See True TV (Item 2).

Royal Pains (USA) Winter Premiere: When last we left Royal Pains, Eddie (Henry Winkler) was having a heart attack—he’s fine, in case you had any concerns that The Fonz was going to die in the middle of a cable dramedy. As Season 2 resumes, there’s a golf tourney in the Hamptons, and there’s something wrong with contestant Jill (Jill Flint) after she’s thrown from a cart by a troubled golf pro (Tom Cavanaugh, looking like Ed rode hard and put away wet). Naturally, HankMed has a cure; Royal Pains is really just House with a MacGyver twist and Land’s End summer wear.

Fairly Legal (USA) Series Debut: See True TV (Item 1).

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (Bravo) Season Finale: Which one is this again? I’ve lost track of these horrible Botox bitches. Anyway, this one’s over; there’s sure to be another around the Bravo corner any minute now.

Also new tonight:
Wipeout, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice (ABC); The Big Bang Theory, Shit You Shouldn’t Watch, CSI, The Mentalist (CBS); Community, The Office, 30 Rock, Outsourced (NBC); American Idol (Fox); Jersey Shore (MTV); Ace of Cakes (Food Network); Conan (TBS)

Preview: What’s to come from Parks & Recreation, no thanks to NBC …
