I'm joining the buffoonery in Park City for the Sundance Film Fest Friday morning, but I won't leave you without some entertainment options for the weekend. Let's get an early jump on it, shall we?---

If you're interested in getting into the swing of Sundance yourself, check out our complete Sundance guide to find out how. But there's plenty going on beyond the film fest. Check it:

Friday

It's Gallery Stroll in SLC, there is lots of great stuff hitting the capital's galleries. Check out Fice where legendary hip-hop photographer Ricky Powell is having a show of his work starting at 8 p.m. Another cool-looking show is at Art Access, featuring the work of the "Salt Lake Seven." Copper Palate Presents John Andrews is another worthy stop along the stroll.

Darwin Deez considers his tasty pop as a combo of Thriller and Dismemberment Plan. Decide for yourself as he headlines Kilby Court Friday night. Long Distance Operator, Cavedoll, Ghetto Tea Party should make for a fine night of local tunes at The Woodshed. Tribal Seeds bring a little reggae-rock to The Depot, while San Francisco blue-rockers The Stone Foxes play a Sundance gig that's actually open to the public at The Sidecar in Park City.

Saturday

The MOMIX dance company brings something utterly different to the the stage at Kingsbury Hall, and the nature-based show Botanica should be a visual treat.

Hilarious hip-hoppers Das Racist headline a show at The Sidecar in Park City. Joshua James and Parlor Hawk play at Velour in Provo, while People Under the Stairs headline a hip-hop party at The Urban Lounge. The Slippery Kittens burlesque troupe will be hosting a fundraiser and amateur show Saturday at Bar Deluxe.

Sunday

Sit back, relax! Or perhaps join The Forum for Questioning Minds at the Main Library at 2 p.m. for a chat with psychology prof David Strayer, who will discuss differing abilities in multi-tasking.

Bryon Friedman will headline a show at The Sidecar for those who want to brave the Sundance scene in Park City, and Slash will introduce his new horror film company by hosting a party featuring a horrific music choice: Fuel. Scary!
