If the holiday ham dried out, if the family shunned you because of your new X-rated tattoo, if everyone's drunk and obnoxious at your aunt's house, or if you're just plain sick of the usual Christmas fare and don't feel like cooking, ---here are my three recommends, all open today and which won't require a reservation:

Himalayan Kitchen (order Nepali and Indian dishes off the menu) 360 S. State, Salt Lake City, 801-328-2077

Ganesh (serving south and north Indian dishes, buffet until 3 p.m., dinner 5 to 8 p.m., 777 E. Fort Union Blvd., Midvale, 801-569-3800

Phong Phu Restaurant (lip-smackingly fresh Vietnamese cuisine prepared by a former La-Cai Noodle House chef), 7640 S. State, Midvale, 801-562-5888

Good eating!
