Concert Review: Brandon Flowers at The Depot

Show opener Fran Healy made no issue of befriending the audience. The Scottish musician joked, told stories, and played a few familiar songs from his band, Travis.
While Flowers was mostly show with little audience connection, it didn't detract from a stellar performance. The set began with a surprisingly mellow song, “On the Floor,” and lead right into the more familiar and energized song, “Crossfire.”
Before beginning “Welcome to the Fabulous Las Vegas,” Flowers did take the time to recognize his Utah roots, mentioning that while born in Henderson, NV, he spent his, “formative years in the Beehive State.”
The Killers did not go ignored; something the audience seemed to be looking forward to most. He paid tribute to his band with a blast from the past, the lesser known song “Losing Touch” off their most recent album Day & Age and wrapped up the show with an acoustic version of “When You Were Young” with a surprise appearance by fellow Killers band mate, drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. [corrected].
