This just in: AMC has renewed The Walking Dead for a second season—this time for 13 episodes, as opposed to the current season of six. That’s a whole lotta zombie time on TV come 2011. ---

What’s new tonight:
Conan (TBS) Debut: No longer prohibited from being Funny On TV, Conan O’Brien finally returns to the tube with a basic-cable talk show that will likely kill Jay Leno and David Letterman in curiosity ratings for his first night. After that, who knows? Keep in mind, O’Brien inherited NBC’s Late Night from Letterman in the ‘90s, and then The Tonight Show from Leno last year (you may have heard something about that in the news). This is the first time he’s truly built his own show from scratch, so it’s probably going to get full-tilt WEIRD—especially with the free creative reign TBS has reportedly given him. Another benefit of being on cable: The show will repeat later in the evening (on Utah Comcast cable, Conan will run first at the very un-late-night hour of 9 pm) after Lopez Tonight, offering more than one chance to catch it. Speaking of Lopez Tonight, don’t make the mistake of not flipping away after Conan—George Lopez’s old sitcom was funny, but his talk show is so painfully forced that it makes Leno’s show (any incarnation) look like comedic genius in comparison. Conan’s first guests: Seth Rogan, Glee’s Lea Michelle and multi-committed musician Jack White. Masturbating Bear? Let's keep hope alive.

Also new tonight:
Dancing With the Stars, Castle (ABC); How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, Two & a Half Men, Mike & Molly, Hawaii 5-0 (CBS); The Event, Chase (NBC); House, Lie to Me (Fox); 90210, Gossip Girl (The CW); Cake Boss (TLC); Hoarders (A&E); Weeds, The Big C (Showtime); In Treatment (HBO)

Preview: A smattering of Conan promos, including the five-minute Show Zero.
