Greetings and salutations, online denizens, and welcome to a new effort to keep you in the loop on ways to fill your days with art, music and assorted silliness.---

I started the Lounge Act blog a while ago as a means to pimp what I think are worthwhile ways to spend our time and money around Utah. After a short hiatus, I'm reclaiming the name and bringing the concept home to City Weekly. I'll be offering a few tips each day for things to do, putting in some reviews and analysis here and there of activities I make it to myself, and hopefully making it a fun and informative read. You know, when I have time.

So away we go. It's Monday in Utah, and there actually ARE some good excuses to get out of the house. To wit:

Down at the BYU campus, at the most excellent BYU Museum of Art (seriously, folks! If you haven't been, check it out sometime), you can see Bill Owens: Suburbia (pictured), a series of photos from his 1973 book of the same name that offer a surprisingly entertaining and engaging look at "the good life."

Tonight at The Urban Lounge, LA electro-experimentalists Autolux headline a show that also includes Gold Panda on the bill.

Monday night at Kilby Court, one of the most popperific combos around, The Magic Kids, arrive in support of their new album Memphis, a serious sweet batch of ear candy.
