Discrimination at The Depot?

Saturday night’s Enrique Bunbury and El Heroes del Silencio show at The Depot was an opportunity for Hispanic fans of the Spanish rock legend to visit with their god. That said, if you had a privilege-driving license you weren’t getting in.---
According to music biz sources, 450 people went to The Depot, but only 200 made it though because of a hefty security presence turning away Bunbury fans who showed their Utah-state issued driving privilege card.
A call for comment yesterday to a United Concerts’ official was not returned. United Concerts president Jim McNeil, however, told El Observador of Utah, “We don’t prohibit anyone from coming in.” The Depot could not risk its state liquor license --which does not recognize the privilege-driving license as a valid form of I.D. (pdf)--by allowing undocumented fans in, he explained. McNeil recommended taking a passport next time.
Bunbury presumably is going back to Spain unimpressed by Utah. He and his tour chief told El Observador’s Tania Navarro that The Depot’s sub-contracted security were absurd and shameful and that he hadn’t had any other problems of this kind during his tour, aptly named 'The Consequences.'
