Ginger Kid genocide in new M.I.A video (NSFW)

M.I.A's new video for "Born Free," in which red-headed children are rounded up like Cherokees, Jews, Armenians, Tutsis (pick your favorite victim of genocide) is violent, disturbing, scary and.... not too far removed from reality? It's a brilliant video, though some may complain that's its violence is gratuitous and its message delivered with a heavy hand.

The 2010 Twilight Concert Series opening show

While we await official word from the Salt Lake City Arts Council on the details of this summer's Twilight Concert Series, details are popping on on various bands' Web sites—like who will play the first show July 8.--- I just got a press release from SubPop band Avi Buffalo, whose debut album arrives Tuesday.

Concert Review: Yeasayer at In the Venue

Live, Yeasayer is every bit as crisp, clean and vibrant as they are in the studio. A crowd braved the heat and smell of a packed Club Sound (at In the Venue) to bear witness to the Brooklyn-based, five-piece touring ensemble make fiery beats and layered, blissy tunes.--- What shows start at 7 p.m. on a Friday, I mean really?
