Big day for TV news--the least surprising being Larry David's decision to bring back Curb Your Enthusiasm for Season 8. Did anyone believe Larry could stay away from "Larry"? ---

From HBO: "David said, 'After much soul searching--and by the way, it was nowhere to be found--I have decided to do another season of Curb. I look forward to the end of shooting, when I can once again resume the hunt for my elusive soul. I know it's here somewhere or perhaps in the rugged mountainous regions of Pakistan.' Production on the eighth season starts this summer; the 10 new episodes will debut next year."

Also, NBC has announced the renewal of Tuesday-night newbie Parenthood for a second season--score one for quality scripted Peacock programming (now hold your breath for Chuck). Did you know there was a previous attempt to TV-remake the craptastic '80s movie around 1990? Neither did Ron Howard.

AMC says Mad Men will drop Season 4 on Sunday, July 25--right after creator Matt Weiner casually dropped in an interview that MM will end on Season 6, because "no one wants to see Don Draper at Studio 54." Speak for yourself! Besides, that news was soon eclipsed by costar Christina Hendricks being named Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive. Maybe this means she'll get more than five minutes of screen time in Season 4.

Finally, FX has announced that the final (nooo!) seasons of Denis Leary's Rescue Me will begin Tuesday, June 29, with 10 episodes constituting Season 6, with a 9-ep Season 7 following in 2011 (and ultimately ending on Sept. 11). Better news: Louis CK's simply-titled Louie will be paired with Rescue Me on Tuesdays. Whatever the hell it's about ...
