Sundance 2010: Slush Hour

There was a weird vibe on the streets of Park City this afternoon. Things were a little quieter than usual, true, but they were also slushier than usual. And, apparently, about to get slushier. ---

Sundance 2010 officially kicks off tonight with three screenings, but people are talking more about what’s likely to arrive tomorrow, and not on any of the venues’ screens. The Pacific storm that pounded California today is expected to deliver a meteorological ass-whuppin’ to the Wasatch Mountains, and has already delayed several flights into Utah. Recent years have seen wide variances in winter weather during Sundance – 2008 delivered a couple of potent storms, while last year was fairly mild – so long-time attendees know to expect anything. One hopes that would mean bringing watertight footwear able to withstand ankle-high puddles. At least today they’re ankle high.
