Posting a day early and pushing onward into the heavy release schedule of the month, we’ve got two more local releases to talk about today. With special notice to our far northern music lovers and the rarely covered music scene in Cache County! --- First up tonight if you make your way down in Provo, you’ll be able to catch the release show for Nate Baldwin & The Sound! Following up his solo EP (The Complete) from 2008, Baldwin formed a band and pushed himself and them over nearly a year to produce a full length. The end result: Maybe, This Is Who I Am. With touches of his first on the canvas, there's a very vibrant feel of pop/rock that strangely resonates as genuine, and is a definite step up for the growing local. Joining them tonight at Velour will be Shady Chapel, J. Wride and Cody Taylor. Just $5 starting around 8PM.

Then tomorrow night, make the long drive up to Logan as hometown band The Shuttles put out their sophomore release, In This Valley. A frequent act of Why Sound, the five year veterans are probably one of the best kept secrets of their music scene. Their debut album, Speaking In Letters, did well locally but didn’t make much noise past Ogden. But the new album has a nice touch of experience and experimentation, which shocks me some of it isn’t getting radio play. But don’t take my word for it, head on up as the band holds their release show at The Lundstorm Center near Utah State (1240 East 1000 North), with NightNight and Desert Noises playing in support. Just two bucks!!!

For those of you who have never had the privilege, a live performance from the band last spring at USU in conjunction with the unique (and sadly defunked) Independent Music Club. Head out, love music, buy local!
