Let's Talk Traditional Marriage

Rep. Jason Chaffetz must care deeply about the people of the District of Columbia. He really must. --- And because he cares, he will introduce a bill to allow District of Columbia residents to vote on gay marriage following the city council's efforts to legalize same-sex unions in the district.

D.C.-ites, though, must secretly chuckle that a Mormon from Utah is going all out to preserve "traditional" marriage for them. So many outside the faith continue to associate Mormons with polygamy (that most traditional form of marriage). And they believe polygamy is openly practiced and tolerated in Utah. (And they're right, of course, but not by upstanding LDS Church members. Only the renegades who believe in uber-traditional marriage, the type that kings David and Solomon reveled in, are polygamists.)

It would appear Chaffetz is on a different "mission" than the one Utahns of the 3rd district sent him on. Will his constituents file their own "motion of disapproval?" Whose water is he carrying, anyway ... the church's or the state's?
