Eve: Day 1 (A Brief) Review

For those of us that braved the cold, Day 1 of Eve was well worth the frigidness.---
Things got off to a slow start, with barely a family in attendance for Future of the Ghost, who played furiously despite cold fingers.
Excited boarders and skiers got some practice runs in gearing up for the Rail Jam competition, which I hear was great but I missed, opting instead to wonder over to the Rose Wagner.
Utah Contemporary Theatre put on its Pub Theatre, which was 6-person reading regarding New Year's resolutions. As someone who prides himself in romanticism, hedonism, and not apologizing for my past, thus nary a resolution happens each year, I left midway through. For what they were doing it was fine, just not for me.
The rest of the performances at Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center were fantastic.
Utah Opera Ensemble put on a comical Shakesperean-inspired intro to opera for all ages with "Much Ado About Opera." The cast, comical with musical poignancy; the theatre, resonating with wonderful acoustics. After taking some photos in the front row and walking to my seat, I could see dozens of smiling faces in the crowd. Pictured above are Romeo and Juliet.
The last event I saw was Wasatch Theatre Company's "Original Shorts"--several plays from past years' Page-to-Script series. I planned to stay for one and stuck around for three. The plays lasted about 10 minutes apiece. Themes ranged from existential to the dark side of romance.
