On Sunday night, renown chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Chef du Cuisine Matt Harris and the J&G Grill staff hosted about 15 chefs from Park City restaurants for dinner at Jean-Georges' new J&G Grill in the St. Regis Deer Crest Resort at Deer Valley. --- I was also honored and privileged to be invited by Jean-Georges to the dinner. My first inclination was to decline the invitation, not wishing to be an interloper at this chefs' dinner. But then I thought: How many chances will I ever get to witness Jean-Georges and his team cooking for more than a dozen professional chefs? So, I accepted and I'm sure glad I did. J&G Grill is a thrilling new addition to the Park City dining scene. We gathered at the 22-seat communal J&G Grill table:

Jean-Georges is very generous and outgoing. He mingled with chefs before heading into the gargantuan exhibition kitchen ("It's the biggest of all my restaurants," said Jean-Georges) to cook. Over the course of a couple days he spent an inordinate amount of time with yours truly -- as I said, he's very generous with his time.

Dinner began with delicious black truffle & Fontina pizza (not pictured), beef carpaccio pizza and jalapeno fritters with white Burgundy truffles:

I forgot to photograph Jean-George's grilled Clark's Farm lamb chops with smoked chili glaze and King oyster mushrooms. Up next, an outrageous foie gras brulee with sour cherry yuzu compote:

We wrapped up dinner with a generous assortment of J&G Grill desserts:

As you can imagine, this dinner was exceptional. Most of the dishes served are available on the regular J&G Grill menu. I urge you to visit this spectacular new addition to the Utah dining scene. Who knows? You might just run into Jean-Georges Vongerichten. He's an avid skier and since J&G Grill is his only ski resort restaurant, expect to find him in Utah on a regular basis.
