Chris Butters, R (retard), West Jordan should hire Max Hall as his PR person for the up coming Sundance Film Festival and the showing of Reed Cowan's "8: The Mormon Proposition".---

It is no secret that Chris Butters is a homophobe and his past actions on and off the hill have proven this.  He is intitled to his opinions but he is not entitled to getting a pass from his words and deeds regarding issues that effect citizens of Utah.  He is still an elected official and as such is answerable to the electorate.  In Cowan's documentary he has Butters lamenting about how gays can be equated with pig sex and comparred gay activists to Muslim radicals calling the gay rights movement, "probably the greatest threat to America".

These comments created a firestorm that got him sanctioned and bounced from a couple of committees in the Legislature but he still got relected to his office.  Now he comes out, after the LDS Church gave it's stamp of approval to the Salt Lake City ordinance protecting gay's, lesbians and transgendered people rights from job and housing discrimination,  in favor of such protections.  He even eluded that he might offer up a bill to protect gays and such from discrimination in these areas state wide.  That lasted about 8 hours.  Butters now says he will have nothing further to say or do on the issue.

What is so funny about this entire Butters dance is that until the LDS Church gave a nod to anti-discrimination ordinances protecting gays, Butters thought they were the biggest threat to America.  Why do we even have a Legislature when we can just ask the LDS Church what laws we should and should not have on the books?  If their little wink and nod can change Chris Butters from a raging homophobe to a protector of gay rights, what other magic can they perform in the up coming session?
