Citizens group opposes police building location

A new group has formed to oppose the Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker's preferred location for a police administration building and emergency preparedness center that would be built with a $125 million bond if voters approve it Nov. 4. The Citizens For Better Leadership And Planning, however, does not officially oppose the bond and is gearing up for a fight over the location regardless of whether the public approves the new debt.

The Hotel & Elevate: Back In Business

Following an extended hiatus, downtown hot spots The Hotel and Elevate (155 W. 200 South) will re-open for business this Halloween weekend. The new owners fought their way through a mountain of red tape to organize Friday's kick-off celebration with Soundclash #22, featuring DJs Juggy, Finale, Handsome Hands, Jello, Crispy and Scarecrow.

Er, yesterday I mentioned that Queens-based Blues Control would be bringing their exploratory psych-rock to Kilby Court for the first of two Utah shows. Turns out both of those gigs are taking place tonight.

Larry David vs. Jesus

On the Sunday, Oct. 25 episode of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry (Larry David) experiences a bit of "splash-back" in an employee's home bathroom, due to his, as Jerry Seinfeld put it, "Sea Biscuit piss stream." Unfortunately, Jesus took one in the face. Now the God People are all up in arms, outraged over a Jew getting a drop of pee on Jesus Christ.
