Going
to the local releases tonight, those of you who didn't catch Will
Sartain and his extraordinary performance of his entire For Love
album, you can catch him again tomorrow night at Kilby Court.
Performing the second release show in a week which will be a part of
the two-day local marathon known as Kilby Fest. --- We'll chat about that
more come Monday in my blog. Backing him up on Saturday will be Band
Of Annuals (who have been playing new works as of late), Mighty
Sequoyah and The Continentals. Until then, check out the article on
Sartain in this week's issue, and this picture of his show from last
week performing live with his eight-piece ensemble. Catch him before he takes off for a European Tour.
But if
Hip-Hop is more your style this weekend, then make your way over to
the Downtown Hookah Lounge where Kearns native Virtue will be putting
out his new LP, The Reala. On his birthday no less. Got to
listen to a couple of tracks this week and it is heavy, but you
wouldn't expect anything less form a four year absence. The material
is just begging to be heard. Joining him will be a list of local
hip-hop and rap artists that will put most bigger venue concerts to
shame this week. You can also read more about Virtue in this week's
issue. Show starts at 9PM for just $10.
And just to sidestep
from the release schedule, something that caught my eye a few weeks
back, the city of Logan has been jumping with their own set of
Hip-Hop Series. Club New York has been playing host to these events,
bringing local and national flavor to Cache County. Tonight for just
$5 you can catch San Diego's own Jayton Tha Mac, performing live with
other visiting artists and a mix of local favorites. If you love
hip-hop and rap, its well worth the drive!
Get out, love
music, buy local!
