Much like the NFC West, the AFC West sucks... ---

Tonight it’s an AFC West rivalry though, as the Denver Broncos travel to “The Q” to face the San Diego Chargers.

The Broncos are 5-0, the Chargers 2-2.

In recent years, these have been the 2 best teams in the AFC West. That’s part of the rivalry. Even going back to the 70’s these teams just don’t like each other. Add to that, recent events such as Chargers QB Phillip Rivers taunting the Broncos after beating them, the Broncos getting the benefit of the worst call in the last few years now known as “the Hochuli fumble” which cost San Diego a game, and the Broncos meltdown last year. The Broncos had a 3 game division lead over San Diego with 3 games to go. The Broncos lost all 3, and San Diego won all 3 including a 52-21 drubbing of the Broncos on the last day of the regular season. That game probably got Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan fired, so new Denver coach Josh McDaniels probably isn’t too broken up about that game.

ESPN 6pm.
