My arms are so sore right now, I can barely type this.--- Last night I hit up Fight for Your Life, a boxing gym with bare-bones appeal located in the heart of Sugarhouse. The instructor, an amiable British man with tattoos and a mean right hook, led us through a series of grueling routines designed to, ostensibly, save our lives. Or maybe just help us look good in a tank top? So, yeah. This hurts, but tonight presents too many sweet live shows to lay off the keyboard.

For a dose of hearty, no-nonsense R&R, don't miss Clutch. You might recognize them as Ace of Cakes' star Duff's favorite band. Bill Frost has his PhD in cold-hard rockin' it. Here's his dissertation on their best songs, many of which they'll whip out tonight at The Depot.

Over at The State Room, gritty, young country/roots-rockers Deer Tick will headline an evening of twangy goodness. Don't miss opener, Utah's own Atherton.

Want to bust a move? The Scion Radio 17 Monthly show will kick-off a months-long series at W Lounge. Held in just five markets including Salt Lake City, the free event will bring to town artists who might otherwise skip Utah. September’s edition features Craze, Drop the Lime, Blu Jemz and Rob Wonder. The catch? Guests must RSVP ahead of time at Scion.com/RadioMonthly. W Lounge, 358 S. West Temple, 9 p.m.
