Fall is shaping up to be as impressive as this summer's concert season with several new shows announced for September and beyond.--- A few noteworthy gigs to mark on your calendar: The State Room is coming into its own and expanding its repertoire with performances by Deer Tick (Sept. 29), Aimee Mann (Oct. 12) and Great Lake Swimmers (Oct. 20) nailed down.

Mighty grunge kings Pearl Jam join Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals at the E Center Sept. 28

Gossip returns to town with MEN (members of Le Tigre) at Urban Lounge Oct. 20. just ten days after the Butthole Surfers headline the downtown club. And, in old but still vital news, Dinosaur Jr. play an early Halloween show Oct. 31 followed by Ted Dancin.

On Sept. 13 at In the Venue, Yeah Yeah Yeahs will attempt to match their killer DV8 appearance with the Liars and JXBX oh so many years back. No matter what you think of their new album, this band puts on one hell of a live show.

David Bazan follows up his intimate SLC house performance last Spring with a gig at Kilby Court Nov. 2. Say Hi will open.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg, folks. Stay tuned for more updates as they roll in.
