Watchdogs at the OR

In case you live on Vulcan, it may be news that the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market at the Salt Palace Convention Center is underway July 21-24. The crowd of 20,000 attendees is an active, outdoorsy bunch who apparently do not have access to dog-sitters.---

City Weekly freelancer Wina Sturgeon showed up to the event and says attendees are allowed to bring their dogs. "You register the pooch," she says, "and you're given a nice leash. This was sent out in press releases. Only thing is, they evidently didn't expect many mutts to make it to the show.

"I got there in the afternoon with Strider, and all the leashes were gone. They said there will be more towards the end of the show, but while I was in line picking up credentials, four other people came to pick up leashes and were also told to come back.

"What! The OR show runs out of dog leashes! Oh, the horror!"
