Baseball season is long. Some say too damn long. 162 games long. If you follow baseball closely as a fan, you probably don’t have a job. So, just in case you are in need of a primer, here’s a first half of the season breakdown. ---

The Dodgers have been on fire since the season opener and still have the best record in baseball even after Manny Ramirez sat out a 50 game suspension for drug violation.

Yankee star Alex Rodriguez admitted to steroid use after a tell all book hit the book shelves, all the while “new” Yankee stadium is mocked for higher prices, firing old beer vendors and home runs flying out of the Bronx at an alarming rate.

Twins catcher Joe Mauer, and Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols are the best batters so far with Pujols flirting with the triple crown.

Giants ace Tim Lincecum is clearly the best pitcher in baseball, even with team mates Randy Johnson getting his career 300th win and Jonathan Sanchez coming 1 batter from a perfect game while tossing the Giants 1st no hitter since 1976.

Cleveland, Oakland and the Orioles suck in the AL, while the NL has the Padres & Diamondbacks both 20 games back in their division, but the Washington Nationals are the worst by far. They have played 46 road games and won only 10 of them with the worst record in baseball at 27-66.

Oh yeah, and the National league lost the all star game again, for the 13th straight year.
