Larry Miller RIP

Larry Miller was an extrodinary man, no question.  A self made multimillionair with business's ranging from a string of auto dealerships that dot the Utah landscape as well as surrounding states.  He owned cattle ranches, movie complexes, huge auto and motorcycle racing complex, movie production co. and who knows what other business are in the Miller empire, over 80 is the number bandied about.  Quite a guy and you don't get where Larry got without making lots of people happy and acquiring enemies as well.

Will all that said, do we need to have a Miller Memorial?  Geez.....his name is all over the place and as far as a memorial, what better one exists in the JAZZ and the Delta Center.  (I refuse to think of it as the Energy Goo Area).  The artists rendering of what the memorial would look like I found offensive if for no other reason than it resembles the Viet Nam Memorial in Washington.

With all the mega-millions the JAZZ pays it's collection of out of control petuitary gland B-Ballers, why is it that a group has formed and begging for huge cash donations to build this stupid thing?  They want to build this monument outside the JAZZ arena but are hitting the heavy hitters for some $700 million bucks to build it.

To make matters even more bizarre the monument would include an inscription saying, "He touched our hearts, and by so doing , his legacy lives on in each of us."  I don't want to sound harsh but.....WTF?  Larry never touched my heart any more than the guy who drives the annoying ice cream truck in summer.  I knew Larry and liked him and admired his success but I can tell you right now, his legacy does not live in me!  Unless that legacy comes in the form of a monthly car payment to one of his dealerships.  PAAAALLLLLLEEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEE!!!
