Age ain't nothing but a number as demonstrated by today's new music picks, with both Spinal Tap and Tiny Masters of Today representing on opposite ends of the lifeline spectrum. The former recently went on tour not by fancy, comfortable jet airplane but in a bus, old-school DIY-style. The comedians/musicians still rock (hilariously). Their latest release Back from the Dead is life imitating art turned to 11.

(Funky) Sex Farm - Spinal Tap

Tiny Masters of Today are veritable veterans releasing their follow up to the star-studded debut Bang Bang Boom Cake. Now 13 and 15, Ada and Ivan are back with Skeletons featuring new drummer Jackson Pollis (former beat-keeper Russell Simins of John Spencer Blues Explosion had other bidness to attend to) rounding out the Brooklyn trio. The record is an electronic/organic work of cotton-candy punk pastiche with an undercurrent of wise-beyond-their-years social commentary. Whether or not you agree with David Bowie's assessment of the band ("genius"), they make music that's incredibly catchy, fun and a refreshing break from the Jonas Brothers (who incidentally also have a new LP out today).

Also in stores, the long-awaited Spinnerette debut featuring Brody Dalle of the Distillers. Is it better than the album her ex Tim Armstrong just released with his band Rancid? That's your call.

Baptized By Fire - Spinnerette
