Your Old TV Will Kill You

Forget about how tomorrow's Digital Television Switch (cue screams) is going to leave millions of Americans with no access to Judge Joe Brown--those saps have made no effort to convert; it's time to leave them behind and save ourselves. It's the folks who have gone digital that are going to kill us!

Dig: Everybody who, instead of buying one of those DTV converter boxes (which comes with a guv'ment surveillance device to watch you ... what, you thought that coupon was free?), went out and bought a fancy new D-ready set has to dispose of the old one--and they're just going to dump it in the trash or on the street ... where Your Children play! (Cue more screams)

According to this ABC 4 report, "TVs are hazardous because of the heavy metals that they contain. Each television contains approximately 20-30 pounds of the toxic metal, but there are others as well. TVs contain items such as chromium, nickel-cadmium, lithium and mercury, and there is concern these toxins could end up in our groundwater."

See? There is concern. Little proof, but concern. 4 Your Family! Think of The Children!
