For those not planning on attending tonight's Fleetwood Mac concert at EnergySolutions Arena (we'll have a review for you tomorrow), hit up Urban Lounge for the lower-key triple-header of Hopewell, Blue Sunshine Soul and Tiny Lights.
The first band and evening headliner Hopewell is ex-Mercury Rev member Jason Russo's labor of love. A commanding live-wire often dressed head to toe in white, Russo at times steals the spotlight but with a group this tight center stage is just as soon reclaimed by Tyson Lewis, for example. His Hammond organ on “Stranger” surges like whirling Dervishes. Good Good Desperation (Tee Pee Records) is soulful, psychedelic, urgent and epic.
Arrive early for local openers Blue Sunshine Soul and Tiny Lights who dish up tasty, trippy noise treats while looking too cool for school. Expect sunglasses at night.
Action kicks off around 10 p.m. 241 S. 500 East.
