Not much to write about here: The Salt City Derby Girls’ all-star Shakers team destroyed Ogden’s Junction City Roller Dolls (travel team: The Trainwrecks) with a final score of 203-46 on home turf Saturday night at the Salt Palace. The Shakers dominated from the first jams, their track experience trumping the JCRD’s NorUt attitude and determination.

The bout’s most unpredictable moment: SCDG announcer Johnny Crass having his dreadlocks shaved off by the lovely Mrs. Frost, Red Suzy. It was a fundraiser thing. Or a health-code thing—could go either way.

Reliable SCDG jammers Moonraker, NOS and China White ratcheted the score up to ridiculous-even-by-NBA-standards heights, and even blocker/pivot (and league founder) Brew Ha Ha took a shot at scoring in the bout’s final minutes. For the Trainwrecks, jammers Killa Patra and Slayer Cake fought hard for their 46 points, and some (actually, just me) are laying the blame for the JCRD’s beatdown on X96 Radio From Hell’s Bill Allred, the unofficial (but unequivocal) King of Ogden—had he shown up to cheer them on, maybe they would have lost by 100 points instead of 157. Just a theory.

Next SCDG bout: This Saturday, May 9, with the Sisters of No Mercy taking on the Bomber Babes at the Salt Palace in downtown SLC (tix: SLCDerby.com). Next JCRD bout: Saturday, June 6 at the Golden Spike Event Center in Ogden, versus the Inland Empire Derby Divas from Riverside, Calif. (tix: JunctionCityRollerDolls.com).
