If you're an artist wondering how you're going to make ends meet in a sagging economy, have a chat with the folks at Salt Lake Acting Company. Seems they've got more than a few creative ideas.

Though the theater company parted ways with a number of staff members in a cost-cutting move earlier this season, SLAC is exploring other ways to support artists. The Actors' Collective was born from a brainstorming session that has resulted in, most immediately, a gallery displaying art by local theater professionals in the SLAC building's Green Room, and a boutique (featuring handcrafted jewelry, art prints, scarves, collage art and more) with all proceeds going to the artists. The gallery and boutique are open during regular business hours, and during performances (including this, the closing weekend for End Days).

But wait, there's more! The Chapel Theater is showcasing an after-hours (10 p.m. - midnight), cabaret-style musical revue for theater artists, at a cost of only $5. And outdoor house management for the theater is now being provided by local artists instead of by a security company. Visit CommodityDelArte.Blogspot.com for more information.
