Sports geeks love stuff that rhymes or has a catchy phrase that sounds cool. Like “one and done.” Meaning you won one game, then lost, or took one shot and missed and so on. Other examples are “swing and a miss” “3 and out” and my favorite baseball phrase, “have a seat” which is what you do when you strikeout.
It is also what the Utah Jazz are about to do in the upcoming NBA playoffs. Doesn’t matter where they finish or if they end up playing the Lakers in the 1st round or not. They have 2 victories left in the 2009 season. Don’t get me wrong, I love Deron Williams and Paul Millsap. I also think Korver is a great shooter. But as a team, they look like Ty Corbin’s son Tyrell Corbin and the West High State Champs could teach them a thing or two. Things like how to play smart and stop being lazy, or how to play to actually beat a team instead of expecting to beat a team like the hapless Warriors.
So, I apologize to Jazz fan, but your team is “done” “cooked,” “stick a fork in them” and “no soup for you.”
On the bright side, tomorrow is the day the NFL announces the 2009 schedule, so you’ve got that to look forward to…
