Team Blue dominated from the first period, jammers Killa Patra and Colonel Skirts racking up points while Team Black's defense watched them blow by. Despite impressive efforts, Team Black jammers Demented Desire and Slayer Cake could never close the gap, eventually driving frustrated captain Purple Haze to throw a few punches at Blue's Zelda Cruz on the track in the bout's final moments. Ah, there used to be fights all the time at roller-derby bouts ... now I'm all nostalgic for the days before "rules" and "regulations."

Blue's lead extended to the finale: 136-63 over Black, a mild blowout.

JCRD's next bout is also Utah's first inter-league roller-derby event, against the Salt City Derby Girls at the Salt Palace on May 2. Coincidentally (see how I slip that in?), SCDG's next bout is this weekend, Saturday April 18 at the Palace of Salt: The Bomber Babes vs. The Death Dealers.
