There is a famous scene in The Godfather where Michael sends Paulie on an errand after Paulie betrays his father, Vito Corleone. Paulie is in the car with Clemenza and Rocco and they drive off. Clemenza tells Paulie to pull over… “I gotta take a leak.”
Point being that everyone watching knows that Paulie is as good as dead from the moment he pulls over.
That’s pretty much what happened to Michigan State last night. They got in the car with North Carolina driving and it was only a matter of time before the inevitable came to fruition. The game started off 21-7 for UNC and it never got closer, ending in an 89-72 beat down.
Tonight won’t be a joyride for the women’s runner up Louisville either, as the role of Rocco will be played by Lady UConn, currently 40-0 and looking for #41 tonight @ 6:30 on ESPN. Why am I so confident about the outcome? Maybe because they have already played twice, with UConn winning both games by a combined total of 67 points.
UConn coach Geno Auriemma should only have one worry. Can he deliver Clemenza’s line… "leave the gun, take the cannolis."
