First thing's first, let's take a gander at the 337 Memorial Wall.

--- Fun weekend around town. Checked out Poor Yorick's open house on Friday night. Always a good time there with all the artists showing what they have going on. And from there is was off to In Utah The Week's “Scene In SLC” party. I popped in while it was in full swing, Steady Machete brought out the rock and Deena Marie brought out the sexy. Whatever Lola wants... she can have! Not to mention the fine spin work of DJ Chassis and DC. But then... came... a comedian. Who I won't even dignify with a name because his act doesn't need promotion. Let's just say it was like listening to Dale Schanze rant about what waiters do to your food. If I had a tomato, I would have chucked it.

Vincent Lords took stage after, instead of doing some hypnotism he instead showed us the trick of hammering a two nails into his nose and then broke glass and laid face down in it while someone stood on his head. Not a scratch. And then finishing out the night with a four song set that made the walls bleed, Top Dead Celebrity brought the house down and gave anyone who stuck around to the end a damn fine show. Good drinks, good music, great chatting, horrible comedian... it was good party! ...Oh, and I didn't win anything.

And then Saturday night the Salt City Derby Girls kicked off their 2009 season with the Sister Of No Mercy taking on defending 2008 champions Leave It To Cleavers. This was a great opening bout, lots of spills, back and forth scoring, a cardinal was running about, an expert on sandwiches highly advised me not to ever get the Ham & Swiss at the Salt Palace, sweat, cardborad signs, the works! And who won you ask? Well... you should have shown up and found out! I mean really, what we're you doing on a Saturday night before 10PM? For full SCDG coverage, consult your local Salt Blog for the final score and quips from Bill.

As for other stuff, local artists should check out the Gallery Roll event coming up in May, Earth Jam is on the way too, and City Weekly does their Best Of Utah issue this week. As for me the calendar will be updated later on in the week, and interviews are on the way from The State Room, Plan-B, Cat Palmer, Utah Beers, another concert and more. But much like our spring weather, that could all change in a heartbeat. So we'll see what happens.
